I was born and raised in Williamsburg, VA. I graduated from Longwood University with a degree in Liberal Studies Elementary Education.
I taught Kindergarten in York County and 2nd grade in Chesterfield County during my practium semesters. My students wrote their own "Fairy Tales" and made Abraham Lincoln's Log Cabin.
During my partnership semester I taught 1st grade in Prince Edward County, where my students made Johnny Appleseed Pie and made timelines using their baby pictures.
I taught 5th and 2nd grade during my student teaching in Cumberland County where I always dressed the part: from Jackie Robinson to Betsy Ross. We also danced in patterns, ate fractions, and ate at the "Strange Resterant" to calculate tips.
I was a long term substitute for Kindergarten in Newport News City Schools. We wrote letters to children in Japan and even wrote letters to Cookie Monster!
I taught 3rd Grade during summer school in James City County. My students went fishing for story elements and even played "Pac Man" to find the larger number.
Last year I taught 1st grade here at Abingdon Elementary! My first graders made "Krabby Patties" to summarize a Spongebob Story, made "Green Eggs and Ham", graphed and added with "M&M's", and many other things.
This is my second year at Abingdon Elementary School! I am looking forward to teaching your 5th Grader this year! We have many exciting things planned for this year from eating ice cream for A.R. points to playing Monopoly! We'll even dance a little and bake some delicious math pie !

1. When I was in the 5th grade I played trumpet, piano, and I sang in the choir. I also wrote for my school's newspaper. I was one of the fastest multipication and division time test takers in my class. I also sprained my wrist that year playing basketball! Wow. That was a busy year!

5. I have two older brothers and an adorable 3 year old nephew.
6. I love American History! I have 23 American Revolutionary War Ancestors. When I was a kid, I was a member of "The Children of American Revolution" I am now a member of the "Daughters of American Revolution"! I even worked at Colonial Williamsburg one summer!
7. I love bright colors! Especially red, yellow, and blue!
8. I am left handed.
